NAHB and green building
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a trade association promoting national, state and local policies that make housing a priority. In addition to providing a voice, along with educational resources and marketing advice to builders across the country, NAHB is an excellence resource for consumers looking for advice on buying, financing, building, maintaining or remodeling a home.
A key program sponsored by NAHB is The National Green Building Standard™. As the first green building rating system to be approved by the American National Standards Institute, it defines the benchmarks for residential construction work including:
- Single-family homes
- Apartments and condos
- Land development
- Remodeling
- Renovation
NAHB also hosts the annual National Green Building Conference. Now in its 12th year, the National Green Building Conference is the only national conference targeting green building for the mainstream residential building industry. This year's event will take place May 16-18, 2010 in Raleigh, NC.
